Surgery using robotics

Luke the hero?

I thought I was being futuristic. I was wrong – well, partly, at any rate. Luke, the central character in my concluding novel of the Whitby trilogy, took inspiration from the Covid 19 epidemic. He dreamt of saving lives on a massive global scale. Using Artificial Intelligence (AI) applied to robotics technology, he would remove and replace a whole human lung.

I now read that medical advancement has almost caught up with Luke’s brainwave. I say almost since a lung lobe is not quite the extent of what he envisaged. Nevertheless, medical science has almost caught up. Perhaps it is just as well his other big idea for making money left the business world gasping for breath.
